Matt does excellent, quality work in a timely and affordable way. He has done several projects for us over the past few years and we wouldn't hesitate to call him again in the future for additional projects! Can't recommend him enough! -Desiree K. |
Matt helped us with tile work in our kitchen, as well as exterior painting. Both projects were cosmetic, so it was important to us that things looked really nice. Matt came through for us, and we’re very pleased with his work. Matt has an eye for quality, he cares, and he gets the job done. He listens to your ideas, as well as shares his own creative suggestions (which are good!). We highly recommend him! -Shan and Betsy M. |
How to Find a Great Handyman
A handyman has a wide range of skills and can handle all kinds of jobs. Depending on what your project involves, you’ll want to find a trustworthy, licensed contractor with good reviews.
License - Find their CCB number (it should be clearly present on all advertising) and look them up on the Oregon Construction Contractors Board website: http://search.ccb.state.or.us/search. From this search you can see if they have had any complaints or disciplinary actions filed against them, as well as the insurance policies they have in the place. All contractors are required to carry liability, worker’s compensation (if they have employees), automobile and bond insurance.
Estimate - A good handyman/contractor will want to meet with you to discuss the project and take any measurements if needed. Have them provide a written estimate and make sure everything you want completed is covered.
Trustworthy - The person you hire will need to work in your home or on your property for several hours or days, so it’s important that you feel like you can trust them. Are they polite and well mannered? Did they show up at the agreed upon time and communicate effectively?
Reviews - One of the best ways to determine if a contractor/handyman is reputable and experienced, is by seeking out reviews. Good places to check reviews are Google, Facebook, Yelp, HomeAdvisor and Thumbtack.
Experience - Ask if they’ve completed projects similar to what you are needing done, and ask to see before and after pictures.
